fashion in context part 5 beautiful people?
so 1954 was a time lots of stuff happened during this time but this isn't a history lesson or a history blog, this blog is about fashion and during this time period because of the war etc there was tonnes of rationing including clothes. so from what i know I'm guessing most people who weren't rich had to either wear old fashions leading to a very mixed society in terms of fashion or they would wear clothes handed down from the rich and alter them or even just make their own with what they had. we in class spoke about the 'new look' which in all honesty i hate the concept because its so elitist considering no one but the rich could afford it in juxtaposition to current times where you cant really differentiate classes in public due to clothes because of how we have evolved and become a more inclusive less elitist society in terms of clothes at least don't even get me started on politics they not only hurt my head but get me really angry considering a large group of predominantly old white men are deciding whether i have right no thank begone, anyways. a designer from this time period that really fascinates and inspires me is mary quant because she started out making clothes that she wanted to wear never mind te fashions of the time its what she wanted and they sold and she is a big part of what i believe inspired today fashions or at least helped to push us where we are currently.
