Fashion in context Pt 2 (influences in fashion:

My favourite 20th century decade has to be the 80s all the way, it has/had most things you could ask for from big hair to sleek hair, to sparkly jumpsuits and neon coloured net gloves, etc.

The 80s set a trend for bright colours, geometric shapes and graphic patterns. this started with something called the memphis design movement led by Ettore Sotsass. There is never only one part of an era as iconic as this one that inspires and influences fashion such as the politics of the time, popular video games, artwork, etc.

Earlier this week i landed a job at h&m and i have seen first hand the influence of the 80s in the neon colour spaghetti strap tops that are styled with big oversized half tucked equally bight pink button ups, to the high rise jeans and the cuffed legs, etc.

The 80s influences isnt only seen in fashion its seen in todays television which also then influences the fashion further such as the television show stranger things it was heavily inspired by the 80s and made mom jeans and rolled cuffs even more popular.
